This course was created to help coaches build the CEO leadership skills necessary to become transformational coaches who positively impact their team and community! This course comes with No additional cost to attend, and we will be providing lunch.

These courses focus on topics in coaching that are most crucial to having a long, successful, and quality coaching career. This course was built and designed by world-renowned sports psychologist Dr. Dan Gould.

During the course, group discussions are led by the long-time tenured and successful coaches in the area. This design gives newer coaches chances to get to know the long-time coaches, where they can then create mentor-mentee relationships moving forward.

The NFHS research indicates that high school boys and girls wrestling experienced significant growth over the 2023-24 season (boys +32,443 and girls +15,599) for the boys a 25% increase and for the girls a 102% growth since the 2021-22 season. With this in mind, there has never been a more critical time for us to significantly accelerate the development of high school boys’ and girls’ coaches across America. Most of our girls’ high school coaches are also the boys’ coaches, so now our boys’ coaches have two 80-hour-a-week jobs instead of one.  If we aren’t careful, we will accelerate our boys’ coaches to an early retirement (exasperating the coaching shortage we already have).

The NWCA hosts FREE Scholastic Leadership Academies nationwide for high school boys and girls wrestling coaches to respond to this need. The four-hour workshop allows inexperienced coaches to interact with some of our most seasoned veteran coaches on recruiting, retention, fundraising, branding, ethics, safety, organization, and more.

The best learning occurs via interaction between your veteran coaches and inexperienced coaches.  Believe it or not, veteran coaches like yourself will most likely get the most out of the experience by interacting with other veteran coaches in attendance.  Equally important, after 4 hours of quality interaction between veteran coaches and inexperienced coaches, strong mentor/mentee relationships are formed, which is critical when the inexperienced coaches feel overwhelmed in subsequent years.

As we move closer to the event, if you have coaches who you know plan on attending, please have them register with the link below so that we can prepare properly for it! We look forward to growing wrestling with the best wrestling minds in Detroit! See you soon!
