A World of Opportunity Begins by Stepping onto our Mat.

Beat the Streets Detroit:

Wrestling for Impact.

Since 2009, Beat the Streets Detroit has been dedicated to improving the lives of Detroit area kids aged 8-18 through the sport of wrestling. As the oldest sport in the world, wrestling has a proven track record for developing strong and healthy minds and bodies. Often thought of as a “physical game of chess,” wrestling is as challenging mentally as it is physically.

Academic & Athletic Success.

Because we want our wrestlers to succeed academically as much as athletically, we provide free tutoring in addition to free training, equipment and uniforms. Via the sport of wrestling, we provide a meaningful, challenging, engaging, and (importantly) fun program in a city where relatively few after-school opportunities exist.

Building Character & Life Skills.

Our program focuses on character building, discipline, and self-esteem. We use wrestling as a vehicle for life lessons to foster a strong work ethic, tenacity, and a love of learning. The skills and traits developed through participating are applicable on and off the mat and will help any child succeed not only in wrestling but in school and in life!
