Why Beat the Streets Detroit

At Beat the Streets Detroit, wrestling is just the beginning.

We use the sport as a platform to help young people develop the skills, habits, and mindset needed to succeed in life. Through consistent access to coaching, mentorship, and enrichment programming, BTSD is building a pipeline from youth athletics to college, careers, and community leadership.

Our impact goes beyond wins and losses:

  • Increasing student-athlete engagement and school attendance
  • Creating pathways to college and scholarship opportunities
  • Connecting Detroit youth to mentors, coaches, and professional networks
  • Building confidence, resilience, and long-term success habits

This partnership with U of D Jesuit is another step forward in expanding access, opportunity, and impact for youth across Detroit.

This program is open to all youth wrestlers in the Detroit community. Whether you are new to the sport or an experienced competitor, BTSD provides a place to grow, on the mat and in life.
